Fraternity & Sorority Life
College is a place to build memories and friends for a lifetime. Being a part of a fraternity or a sorority is a great way to be involved in not only the campus community, but in the local community as well. Students involved in fraternities & sororities are known for high scholarship and excellence as chapters must maintain grade point average (GPA) requirements for initiation and membership.
Fraternity & Sorority Life also provides many students with a wide variety of leadership opportunities in their chapter, as well as, the ability to serve on one of the four governing councils.
Service and giving back to the community is a core pillar of Fraternity & Sorority Life. In 2016, UI Greeks contributed over 47,000 hours of their time to community service and chapters donated over $805,000 to various charitable organizations.
Finally, fraternities & sororities build a bond of brotherhood and sisterhood among all the members of their organization. Studies indicate that students who are having fun and engaged in a student organization, like a fraternity or sorority, are more likely to remain in school and be successful scholars.
